First question, out of 3 cleaners: ammonia, bleach, and pine sol, which chemical cleaner is safest? I love using them but they are harmful to your health. Chemicals clean better than natural alternatives such as: vinegar and baking soda. But i have a little asthma so I need something thats less toxic. I would think if I am only using a tablespoon of ammonia in a liter of water then wouldnt it be safe to use?
2nd question: Since ammonia is the best “base” cleaner because it has strong alkali properties that does an excellent job at removing grease. So what is a natural substitution for ammonia that cleans just as well? I need a liquid not a powder—so baking soda and borax is out of the question. Hydrogen peroxide and vinegar is more acidic so that wont work either. Vinegar does a poor job at cutting grease because acids dont clean other acids. It just moves grease around around. Any ideas?
HI I am going to say that out the three the pinesol but a touch of bleach does not hurt.
I have baking soda that I used in my fridge. What can I use it for? Cleaning? I don’t want to just throw it away.
I would pour it down the bathroom drain and then follow that with some vinegar. It will foam and bubble and clean the drain (safer than using Drano or another toxic product). Make sure to wait 15 minutes, then run hot water for a minute or 2.
