Do I need a food handlers license if I want to bake from my home for profit ?
I want to start baking and selling product from my home. I live in PA, and I was wondering if I need a food handlers license or can I just go ahead and do it. I don’t want to do anything big, just a few dozen of a few items to sell on the weekends. Help!
The cities are not strict about this. Many people bake cookies and cakes and pastries to sell at nearby office buildings. As long as you don’t have customers lined up at your door, you will be ok.
If you succeed, rent a commercial facility for $600 a month and let the County Health Dept give you pointers for running a great operation..

My daughter turns 1 on August 22. I am hoping to make her cake myself, but I don’t have much experience with baking. Her bedroom is giraffe-themed, and she has two stuffed pigs that she takes with her pretty much everywhere we go.
I’ve never worked with fondant icing before but know the basic principles, and I think if I make my decision now, I can start practicing!
So what do you think is cuter?
Erin,. that’s a good point! Although if I did go with the pig, I could make a smaller buttercream pig cake for her to smash, haha.
Barfly, that is dumb. A 12 month old is not going to pick out a specific color over others, and is not going to be physically capable of helping decorate a cake. Do you even have kids?!
They are both cute, but I like the giraffe the best. I think it would be messier for the classic 1 year picture, too!

How to start a non profit organization-helping kids,veterans,elderly,addicts/alcoholics,single mothers?
Not sure if I want to help kids with a after school homework/sports club keep them busy so they aren’t home alone, don’t find time to get involved in drugs/gangs,TV, videogames since both parents are usually working cuz everything is so expensive. I’m more geared in helping the middle class becuz it’s such a catch 22 with them! I always feel better about myself when i’m doing things to help others plus I love to plan events such as fundraisers, bake sales carnivals, selling different items all to raise money for a great cause that I believe in. Also where do you start out with finding a place or getting money to help with beginning start up costs and know if you need insurance and liability releases- So many questions where do I go and look to see what would be the best for my area. I would really like some direction and input from anyone who has started one or who would like a #2 organization in a different area so we can grow and help more and more people. You need to be a on-profit group to take in donations for start-up. Do a search for non-profit papers or something in yahoo to find the papers you need to file. In order to get start up money try making up a letter stating that you are a new non-profit group and take it to local businesses and see if some of them will sponsor you. They might be willing to donate items or money. Good luck!

I have a bread machine without the instructions, I would like to know how do I know that the machine is baking?
What processes does it goes through
thanks
you can smell it. and the machine is making a racket. really though, a bread machine is more than just an oven so if you threw some ingredients in the machine and pressed “ON” or “Start” or some other menu item and it’s plugged in, you should see the timer clock start (countdown to baking time) and you should see some mixing, kneading, resting, baking and hear some sounds and feel some vibrations. and smell something.
