how do you set fire to a Baked Alaska cake, and then get the flame to go away?
i saw someone use a torch in a video on YouTube but that didn’t make it go up in flames. so how do you get the flames?
and as for putting it out…is it really as simple as blowing it away?
As far as I know, you don’t flambe a baked Alaska, The meringue gets browned in the oven.

How do you know when your food is finished cooking?
I got a decent new set of cookware, and am experimenting with different kinds of foods. I tend to mix things from cans (chili, baked beans, veggies) with fresh ingredients (onions, green peppers, etc) and mix them in a pot with olive oil and a variety of spices. I have been letting it cook, stirring occasionally until I can smell it. But when do I know that it’s done, before it starts to overcook and burn? My ex girlfriend used the smoke alarm as a timer. Just kidding.
Its very hard to answer this question, as everything has a different ‘done-timer’ to it.
Onions take longer to cook then spinach, etc….
Its best to cook your fresh ingredients (or anything that needs to be cooked) first, then add your canned soups (as these are already precooked and mostly require heat.) From here, bring it to a boil and stop it (i normally stop it once i start to see steam). The best test is the TASTE TEST… just taste it and see if its hot enough, and if the ingredients have the texture you want.
If you put the canned soups in before the fresh ingredients then it will require you to cook the soup for longer in order to properly cook the fresh ingredients.

I have this great idea to give the kids a ‘somewhat’ of a scare!
When I was little I remember going to this Halloween Festival at my Elementary School.
They had this neat set up! Tables all around with buckets on top and the buckets were filled with disgusting things.
Like Brains, worms, intestines eye balls, et cetera. The truth of it was that these disgusting things were just food, edible items.
I would like to recreate this, but I am out of ideas. I don’t want the kids to be too scared, If I decide to put ‘eye balls’ which would probably be jell-o moldings, the kids might scream to their parents. Then, the parents would confront me and so forth and so forth.
Could I possibly get some suggestions from the audience at answers.yahoo.com??
I actually have one idea.
Baked cake, mush it up – Gummy worms – somewhat done jell-o (not too much done, but slimy done).. Ta-Da! It would be worms in mud!
Wahaa i had one of these things in 6th grade. XD
I durno how you could do it for elementary school kids.. maybe it could be like an optional thing.. send a letter home to parents saying what the stuff is and if their okay with their kids going to it. If they are.. have them sign a form or make a note giving the okay. If they arent.. just so the kids dont feel left out..have another thing for the kids whos parents said no just let them do things like bobbing for apples.. painting pumpkins etc.
You could have them put their hands in a box (they cant see whats inside) and label the boxes as like: Mr. Allan’s brain haha thats what my teacher did. I remember once for another one.. we had to put our faces in “brains” XD I wouldnt do it haha
