Okay, on the show (Everyday Italian… FoodNetwork) Giada made chocolate chip cookies. They turned out big and good looking. When I did it.. they turned out like every other cookie I make: Small and un appetizing… (althought they tast good)… why can’t I have the same flavour and LOOK as the cookies on tv? does it have anything to do with baking soda or powder?
You have to remember it’s tv and tv utilizes food stylists to make the food made look better. They also have a tendency to pick out the best looking items and that’s what they put on display for tv.
For your cookies though, have you tried maybe using an ice cream scoop to scoop out the dough. This will yield you a bigger cookie. Also if your baking powder is old, it may not be as effective and if the cookie mixture is too warm it actually can come out flatter because the butter is too soft.

Is the govt. going to now legislate what we can eat?
The govt is declaring a freeze on govt wages ( I hardly think congress & the pres will be included) They want to cut Social Security benefits & double the Fed. gas tax. But they find money to fund new things like this. I personally don’t want the govt legislating me into a vegetarian pizza or a soya hamburger unless I want to eat them.
The $4.5 billion bill approved by the House 264-157 would expand a program that provides full meals after school to all 50 states. It would also try to cut down on greasy foods and extra calories by giving the government power to decide what kinds of foods may be sold in vending machines and lunch lines.
Bake sales and other school sponsored fundraisers that sell unhealthy foods could also be limited under the legislation, which only allows them if they are infrequent. The Agriculture Department would determine how often they could be held.
Those that think this is about salmonella & food poision didn’t read the article.
I see two things here.
#1 the govt telling us what we can eat and limiting our choices to whatever they consider healthy. No more big macs for he public, just veggie burgers.
#2 They are still spending money and want to tax us more, while we are in the “great recession” and 2 million lose their unemployment benefits this month..

You can make crepes or Dutch pancakes. Neither uses raising agent. Dutch pancakes are like a thick crepe, like a doughy omlette that can be filled! YUM!
Dutch Pancakes
1/3 c. butter
4 eggs
1 c. flour
1 c. milk
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Put butter in 8 inch round cake pan and place in oven while oven is heating.
In blender, put 4 eggs. Turn on and blend for 1 1/2 minutes. While still whirling, pour in flour and milk. Blend another 30 seconds to 1 minute longer.
Pour batter into pan in oven, pouring slowly so melted butter is not on top of batter. Bake 20 minutes. Serve hot with powdered sugar and lemon juice or maple syrup. You can also serve with preserves.

Hi can someone suggest what are the best cookng pots, i cook alot and am used to buying tfal pots but it seems like i go through a Tfal set every year… I dont like pots that get black in the outside and look old, that dont look liked baked on grease..are there any good non stick pots out there that look nice on the outside after a long time?
