Wouldn’t a meatloaf pan with the drain holes drain out all the grease but then cause it to smoke in your oven?
I’ve always been bugged by the idea that you have to drain out all the fat while making meatloaf so that it doesn’t get absorbed into the loaf. Now I’ve heard of these meatloaf pans that are two pieces – one part that has drain holes which allows the fat to drip down into the lower pan. My question is – wouldn’t that grease then start to smoke something fierce in your oven?
I have a propane stove, too. Hoping to get some answers from people who know and love these pans – seems like a great idea! Just kind of skeptical! (I also have not been able to bring myself to trust silicone bake ware.. but that’s another question for another day I guess).
I do use lean ground beef and I’ll add either rice or umm.. cracker crumbs.. corn flakes.. etc, but you still get some of that fat from it no matter how lean it is
I have one of those loaf pans and love it for meat loaf. It does not smoke in your oven. I use lean ground beef.
